Book 3, Chapter 239: Reporting To The Main Campus
After around ten minutes, the reinforcements from Central City finally arrived.
Aside from the reinforcements from the Cult Investigation Bureau, the Resolution Department had also sent a team over. When they reached the area, they started cleaning up the corpses and debriefing the people in the area.
Once they learned that there was a motorcade that seemed to have been sent from United Might in the back, they immediately sent a squad over to investigate.
It was highly likely that it was just pretending to be United Might. After all, no one would put their name on full display while attacking a government official.
When they were done wrapping things up, the escort team got into the cars provided by the reinforcements and continued on their way to Central City, but the delay had caused them to only reach Central City in the evening. The sky was already darkening when they arrived.

In Chen Chuan’s car, Wu Han and Wei Dong stared at the tall buildings on both sides of the road, the flashing screens above them, and the blaring advertisements playing nonstop on their Realm Passes.
Even though they had heard about it from Chen Chuan before, they couldn’t help but feel shocked and cried out in amazement.
After entering the city, Chen Chuan sent an oral report to the Resolution Department. Then, he sent a message to all his friends and family to tell them that he had returned to Central City.
Perhaps due to him getting attacked just now, City Defense actually sent him an advertisement offering their security services.
Not only did it list various services based on his estimated income from the Resolution Department, but it also added a nice message saying that if he chose to become one of their top-paying customers, they could provide him with a long-term loan.
As someone from the Resolution Department, he had to deal with various violent criminals in Central City, but they were offering him their services? This was rather absurd, but once he thought about it, it made sense.
Still, he swiped the advertisement away and said, “Wu Han, let’s send Wei Dong to report to the main campus first. Then, we’ll get you settled down.”
“Sure. I’ve never seen the main campus, anyway. I’ll use the chance to broaden my horizons,” Wu Han replied.
Chen Chuan drove up the flyover. After around an hour, he got off, and they saw the tall, octagonal building. There was a traditional, upturned eave at the topmost level, along with drifting auspicious clouds [1] and suspended lights.
“That’s the Arcane Palace,” he told them.
“Damn. It sure is tall and majestic,” Wu Han gasped in amazement.
While the Arcane Palace wasn’t the tallest building in Martial Order District, it was one of the tallest.
Chen Chuan looked up and gave the red figure on the eaves a nod. They passed through the checkpoint without any problems, and Chen Chuan drove into the parking lot. While there, he connected to the university platform and applied to become Wei Dong’s guide.
Usually, a student could get assessment points for this, but he no longer needed it.
They took the elevator to the reception hall and saw students rushing about in groups of two and three while whispering to each other.
When he first came here, it was a few days after the New Year, and the university only needed to provide him, the sole student, its domain resources. Through the Realm Pass, he could see plenty of beautiful and strange sights.
Since they had arrived near the start of the new semester, more students were around, so the resources were distributed equally among them. There were only two divine generals in golden armor standing at the door. Just like before, they stared at the students walking about with arrogant eyes.
It wasn’t normal for students to show up in the university before the start of the semester.
In the past, most didn’t even want to step foot into the Arcane Palace before the semester officially started, because their movements would be restricted by various rules, which made it hard to do many things. They would rather train elsewhere after purchasing the university’s services.
However, after the university set the rule to demote its official students to external students if their assessment points were too low, it led to many students competing with each other and training hard so that they wouldn’t end up sent to the tournament.
Chen Chuan led Wei Dong to the registration counter. Once the university verified his identity, he received his student ID and got a room. Wei Dong was assigned Room Three on the fortieth floor.
Since outsiders weren’t allowed into the dorms, Chen Chuan asked Wu Han to wait downstairs while he brought Wei Dong to the fortieth floor. He then went to the forty-ninth floor to put his things down before taking the elevator down to the first floor.
He didn’t leave Dawncall behind in the room. After all, he had decided to give Dawncall extra treats today, so he brought it out. In any case, Dawncall was smart, and Chen Chuan didn’t need to worry about it following him.
But even after waiting for a while, Wei Dong didn’t come down.
Just then, Chen Chuan heard Hongfu’s voice. “Student 95,124,003 is fighting against Student 95,093,701 near the elevator on the 20th floor. Please steer clear of them.”
Chen Chuan raised an eyebrow at that. Wasn’t Wei Dong’s student ID 95,124,003?
He got into a fight with another student on the first day?
Even so, Chen Chuan remained calm. This was nothing in Martial Valor University. If they damaged anything, they would just have to pay compensation. Besides, Hongfu was keeping an eye on them, so the students wouldn’t die.
“Wu Han, Wei Dong is fighting someone. I need to take a look,” he said.
“He is?” Wu Han was taken aback for a moment before excitement lit up on his face. “Can I go watch?”
That was fine, so Chen Chuan nodded and brought him into the elevator. Then, they went to the twentieth floor. Once the elevator doors opened, they walked out and immediately saw Wei Dong fighting against a well-built student.
The opponent was skilled in grappling, and Wei Dong was covered in dust. As for his opponent, there was a red mark on his face. By the looks of it, he was also a new student.
There were some spectators in the area, but none of them stepped forward to stop them. They were all there to see who would win the fight.
When they saw Chen Chuan, their expressions got tense, though they waved at him in a greeting. Clearly, they knew him, and some of them even whispered to their companions, who in turn regarded him with respect and admiration.
Chen Chuan nodded at the ones who greeted him before turning to Wei Dong and the new student to wait for the fight to end.
There wasn’t anything exciting about a grappling expert fighting against a body hardening expert. It honestly came down to who had the better endurance.
Chen Chuan didn’t regard the new student favorably. Wei Dong had great stamina and recovery. If his opponent couldn’t win within a short amount of time, the victor was almost definitely going to be Wei Dong.
Just as he expected, the new student was unable to defeat Wei Dong even after sending wave after wave of refined force into him. Even though his face was red from exertion, Wei Dong hadn’t actually been fighting at full power. The two were in a stalemate for around ten minutes before the new student ran out of stamina.
Wei Dong found his chance then. With a flip, he threw the new student on the floor before sitting on him and bringing a fist up. The student immediately cried out, “Not the face!”
Wei Dong didn’t listen to him and punched his face.
“I told you... to not hit the face, and you still did it?! You’re still doing it! Ow! Stop hitting me! Stop! You win, okay?!”
When Wei Dong heard him admitting defeat, he stopped punching him and pulled the grimacing student up from the floor. “Are you okay, brother?”
The student’s face was swollen. While he cradled one side of his face, he glared at Wei Dong.
What do you think, asshole?
Just then, another student rushed over. Chen Chuan recognized him. It was Fan Cheng, a new student he met half a year ago in the elevator. He hadn’t seen him since then, and while a long time had passed, martial artists had great memory, so Chen Chuan didn’t forget him.
Annoyed, Fan Cheng snapped at the new student, “I’ve been waiting for you for half a day, and you were fighting here someone else, Fan Shen?”
Fan Shen huffed sullenly.
“Come on, Wei Dong,” Chen Chuan said and walked into the elevator.
Finally, Fan Cheng noticed Chen Chuan. After Wei Dong left with him, he hesitated for a bit before whispering, “How on earth did you two end up fighting?”
Fan Shen didn’t even bother looking at him and walked into the other elevator.
Fan Cheng felt drained. His cousin was a prideful person. The new semester hadn’t even started yet, so he couldn’t even imagine the trouble he would get into later. “If you love fighting so much, go and join the tournament. I won’t stop you.”
“I don’t need you sticking your nose into my business! And we don’t know who’s going to end up in the arena between us!” Fan Shen snapped back.
Fan Cheng fumed, but he couldn’t retort, because those words were too painfully true. “Fine. I’ll be staying out of your business, then.”
Then, he stormed off.

While they were heading down, Chen Chuan asked what had happened. The cause for it wasn’t complicated at all. Wei Dong had simply stared at Fan Shen a little too long, making the latter uncomfortable, and he glared at Wei Dong right back. As they glared at each other, they stepped out of the elevator. Then, without another word, they started fighting.
Wu Han supported this with both hands in the air and said, “Nicely done. You shouldn’t back down from such people. You’re here to study in the main campus, not be bullied. Still, I can’t believe you hit his face, even when he asked you not to.”
“Senior Sister Guan told me to do things the opponents asked me not to do. As long as they don’t admit defeat, I should not listen and keep attacking,” Wei Dong said.
“Guan Xinyin? She’s strong and smart, but when it comes to potential, she loses to you,” Wu Han said before turning to Chen Chuan. “Judging by the other students’ reaction, that kid seems to know some powerful people in the university. Is he something like the recommended students from the Mutual Aid Group? Will they cause Wei Dong trouble?”
They didn’t have to worry about such people in a fight, but they needed to be careful of them using dirty tricks.
Chen Chuan just smiled at that. “It doesn’t matter what sort of identities they have. Once they’re here, the difference isn’t big. After Wei Dong gets his sponsor, no one will cause him trouble.”
Wu Han sighed at that. “That’s good.”
He couldn’t come here to study, and after getting a feel of the atmosphere in the main campus, he found himself filled with longing.
It wasn’t too late yet when they left the Arcane Palace, so Chen Chuan decided to bring them to Across the World for dinner. The place was situated high up at the central axis of Central City, so it was perfect for sightseeing.
They left the Arcane Palace and quickly plunged into the haze of dazzling neon lights.

They represent divine presence and good omens, especially when linked to rain and the Emperor as the “Son of Heaven.” ☜
