Chapter 1710: Facade

Though the God of Decay was notoriously unpopular within the Magus Alliance, it still had its own backing and a modest network of allies.

After all, it was still a Rank Six entity—a force to be reckoned with wherever it appeared.

The sheer strength of Decaying Plane alone made it a significant faction within the Magus Alliance.

Their joint assault on the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature proceeded smoothly.

Though the creature still retained some residual strength, the combined attacks from the God of Decay, Fermera, and Sein left it with no chance of escape. It could only die a slow, agonizing death.

During the fight, the powerful attacks unleashed through Sein’s Faceless Mask opened fresh wounds across the creature’s body.

The forbidden-level Penetrating Eye spell he released through the mask punched several bloody holes straight through it.

Fermera joined the assault with her lightsaber.

Despite having only one arm left, the threat posed by the weapon in her grasp remained formidable.

From time to time, she also fired her shoulder cannons. This angelic robot was armed from head to toe, fully living up to the Gallant Federation scientists’ expectations of her as a “weapon of war”.

Unfortunately for them, she now belonged to Sein.

The God of Decay did not attack the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature with overwhelming force. Instead, it played a supporting role in the subsequent battle.

Under the interference of the God of Decay’s divine domain, Sein’s and Fermera’s attacks landed far more easily on their target.

This quiet but crucial contribution gradually eased the instinctive resistance and aversion Sein had felt toward the God of Decay’s aura and laws.

This was a foreign deity worthy of befriending... provided one could tolerate the constant stench of decay it emitted and endure the misfortune it might bring.

While Sein and the others intensified their assault on the Rank Six Apocalypse World being, sharp-eyed observers elsewhere on the battlefield noticed a change.

Seiron, the mightiest being of Arid Expanse World, was losing the ferocity he had shown earlier.

The entity that had once rampaged across the battlefield, seemingly intent on devouring the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature whole, had quietly retreated to a less conspicuous spot at the very center of the Arid Expanse World legion.

Several Rank Four and Rank Five Arid Expanse World creatures now flanked Seiron, providing him with a measure of “protection”.

Just as Feylis and the Gallant Federation’s Five-Star General Meston had believed, Seiron had already reached the end of his strength.

In fact, his condition was even worse than expected!

The injuries inflicted on him by Sein’s super bomb were nothing short of devastating.

However, two factors were truly responsible for Seiron’s sudden decline and near-total loss of combat capability.

First, his relentless and reckless fighting style earlier had greatly exacerbated his injuries.

Second, the Gallant Federation’s control chips had caused severe secondary damage when they were forcibly removed from his body.

As Feylis had just mentioned, if Seiron managed to survive this war and fully recover, he would truly have reached the peak of Rank Six!

Such an existence would be extraordinarily formidable even within the Magus Alliance, attracting immense attention from all sides.

After all, the next step beyond Rank Six was becoming an overlord!

Alliance overlords stood near the very peak of existence. Even the Magus Civilization did not dare treat them with open arrogance.

When matters of shared interest arose, the Magus Civilization would even consult these alliance overlords.

In short, upon stepping into the overlord realm, one effectively escaped the ranks of the exploited. They would join the Magus Civilization as part of the ruling class.

At its core, the Magus Alliance was an organization established and maintained by the Magus Civilization to protect its own interests, while continuously extracting and redistributing the resources and wealth of the alliance planes.

Were all these hundreds of thousands of planes and civilizations within the alliance truly oblivious to the Magus Civilization’s intentions?

Of course not!

In fact, quite a few of them knew.

Unfortunately, the bottom feeders lacked the strength to break free from the Magus Alliance’s grasp.

Only the small number of powerhouses at the top of the pyramid were lured in by the Magus Civilization with promises of mutual benefit, joining them to claim a share of the alliance’s resources.

As for the vast majority of planes, they remained stuck in the middle tier.

They witnessed the misery of those at the bottom and took it as a warning, yet they also saw the rewards enjoyed by the powerful planes above and could not help but yearn for the same treatment.

This was why the Magus Civilization divided the alliance into layers, with countless finer subdivisions. It was the art of control—tightening the reins while still feeding the horse.

In short, the Magus Civilization had perfected the manipulation of alliance rules.

Compared to the Gallant Federation’s reliance on biochips and economic coercion to control its vassals, the Magus Civilization often did not even need soul contracts to keep alliance planes firmly in line.

So long as he lived and joined the Magus Alliance, he would step directly into its upper-middle tier.

That was a dream beyond reach for countless weak creatures of foreign planes—one they would never even dare to imagine!

The Rank Six Grand Apocalypse World creature being battered by Sein and the others was the real fool.

It had been utterly terrified by Seiron’s earlier attempt to devour it alive, even though Seiron no longer possessed the strength to kill it.

All it saw beneath Seiron’s metallic visor was a hideous, savage face chewing on its own flesh.

Even at such close range, it failed to notice the faint tremor in Seiron’s arms hidden beneath the Wasteland Armor.

Then again, who could have noticed something like that in such a situation?

Even Sein had been fixated on the horrifying spectacle of Seiron tearing flesh from his opponent.

Only beings of comparable caliber, like Feylis or Five-Star General Meston, could tell that Seiron was already pushing himself beyond his limits.

Everyone else on the battlefield had been momentarily overwhelmed by the sheer pressure of his presence.

This was a peak Rank Six existence—brutal, yet frighteningly meticulous!

Even as he rampaged at the frontlines, Seiron was effectively walking a tightrope.

His world-class secret treasure, the Wasteland Armor, had long since been pushed to its limit.

The internal explosion, compounded by countless external impacts, had driven the armor’s durability to its absolute limit.

World-class secret treasures were not invincible, and the Wasteland Armor was not particularly high in quality.

At best, it could only be classified as a low-grade world-class secret treasure.

In Seiron’s current condition, even a moderately powerful Rank Five creature might be able to shatter the imposing facade he was desperately maintaining.

Seiron was keenly aware of this. That was precisely why he had withdrawn into the ranks of the Arid Expanse World Legion, avoiding direct confrontation as much as possible.
