Chapter 1563: Your God Is Nothing Special
Translator's Note: Hey man, I wanna ask y'all a question. Do you guys think I should pick my next work from the same genre (Xianxia/Wuxia but with a few cool twists), or should I try something new like, IDK, cooking or something (like an actual story about food and cooking, with a bit of assistance from a system)? I'm not sure if treading old grounds in a slightly different way, or trying to explore a whole new branch (on this site at least) is better. so I would like to collect some opinions.
“I’ve seen your god. They’re nothing special!” Lady Suyi was still on the floor when Ye Qing came to and looked at her.
“How are you—” Lady Suyi looked up in astonishment and confusion when she heard Ye Qing’s voice.
“—still alive, right?” Ye Qing finished Lady Suyi’s sentence for her before continuing, “So sorry to disappoint you even though it’s technically not my fault. What can I do when your god is so useless?”
Ye Qing just finished when a series of cracking sounds came from the statue. Long, fine cracks were spreading and covering the entire statue in just the blink of an eye.
“How... How is this possible?”
Lady Suyi looked at the still growing cracks in disbelief. Worse still, she could not sense the presence of the Impending Disaster from it.
This meant that the divine intent attached to the statue had either been withdrawn by the Impending Disaster... or killed.
The Impending Disaster would never withdraw their wisp of divine intent of their own accord. It was because the divine intent was their avatar in the human world, their bridge to her, and the power they bestowed upon her.
But the idea that it was killed was even more unthinkable. After all, this was the Impending Disaster!
Even if it wasn’t the Impending Disaster’s true body, even if it was just a wisp of divine intent, even if it was just their avatar, it was still the divine intent of
the
Impending Disaster; the avatar of
the
God of Tribulations. It should be beyond the ability of a secular human to resist.
Any secular human who faced the Impending Disaster’s avatar head on would instantly be plagued by their power of disasters and tribulations, scourges and calamities. Their mind would be warped, and their consciousness would be annihilated.
Not even a Sage was an exception.
However, this man not only suffered no harm after facing the Impending Disaster, he seemed to have killed him outright. It was unthinkable. It was impossible. Absolutely impossible.
“Wait, no. My god isn’t dead... you cannot kill them...” Lady Suyi realized something then. She prayed to the Impending Disaster day and night. Their bond was so strong they might as well be two souls sharing a body. If the Impending Disaster’s avatar really was killed, she would definitely sense it.
She didn’t though. She only lost her connection to them.
Therefore, it was possible that the avatar of the Impending Disaster wasn’t killed. The man had simply executed some sort of Magia to cut off her connection to them.
That had to be the answer; the truth.
Lady Suyi was shaking all over and glaring at Ye Qing even as the thoughts raced through her mind.
“Oh, you mean that? It’s true that I didn’t kill your god.” Ye Qing did not try to hide the truth from Lady Suyi. He admitted it directly.
“Hahaha! I knew it!”
Lady Suyi exclaimed with passion when Ye Qing admitted this. “My god is omnipotent! He cannot be dealt with by the likes of you!”
“I surrender my body and sacrifice my heart. I request the Lord of Disaster and God of Calamity to show themselves...”
“I request the Lord of Disaster and God of Calamity to show themselves...”
Lady Suyi pierced her forehead with her fingertip and dropped to one knee. She chanted the Impending Disaster’s title in hopes of communicating with them.
The blood flowed down her forehead and dripped on the floor. It automatically formed the words, “Disaster”, “Tribulation”, “Scourge” and “Calamity”. The words then manifested images of all sorts of disasters such as wind, hail, snow, rain, thunder, fire, plague and more.
“I sense them...” Finally, Lady Suyi sensed the avatar’s existence. When she attempted to trace their existence though, she found herself looking at Ye Qing’s annoying, smirking face.
“Don’t look at me. I’m not your god.” Ye Qing shrugged.
Of course Lady Suyi knew that he wasn’t her god. It was just that her senses were telling her that the avatar was with him somehow.
“Why is my god on your person?”
She still could not figure out what was happening.
“Sigh. You noticed it in the end...”
Ye Qing sighed. “I guess there’s no point in trying to hide anymore. Yes, I am your god. Now, bow to me!” Lady Suyi hesitated as a matter of course. She was certain that the man before her was
not
her god, and yet her senses were telling her that her god was inside him. She just could not understand why.
Did the Impending Disaster possess him? It was probably, maybe, perhaps not completely out of the question.
That would explain why she was sensing her god’s presence on him.
“... Disciple Suyi greets her god...” Lady Suyi’s eyes flickered, and she actually dropped fully to her knees and kowtowed to Ye Qing.
As she kowtowed, the blood on the ground abruptly floated into the air and formed four labels.
The first label had the word “Disaster” written on it. It was imbued with the power of wind and frost. It was the power of disaster.
The first label had the word “Tribulation” written on it. It was imbued with the power of thunder and fire. It was the power of tribulation.
The first label had the word “Scourge” written on it. A river of blood was circulating around it. It was the power of the scourge.
The first label had the word “Calamity” written on it. It was rampant with sickness and disease. It was the power of disaster.
The four labels contained the Heavenly Way origin power of the Impending Disaster.
If the man before her really was their avatar and her god, then the four labels would provide him with strength instead of injuring him.
If he wasn’t their avatar and her god, then the four labels would plunge him into eternal tribulations.
The four labels looked ordinary, but the power it contained was really terrible beyond imagination. If it was allowed to erupt uncontrolled, it would destroy over half of the Jin Xiu prefecture.
However, Ye Qing simply reached out and grabbed the four labels. It was a palm with five fingers, six enclosures, and eight directions. It stopped the detonation instantly.
“You are not my god!” Shocked and enraged, Lady Suyi tried to yell when suddenly, she was cut off midway. Her face turned as white as a sheet, and she wobbled on her feet like she could collapse at any moment.
It was because a millstone created from yin and yang qi had appeared as the young man slowly clenched his fingers. It caused the four labels in his palm to break inch by inch as if it couldn’t bear the weight.
As if that wasn’t enough, the origin powers of disaster, tribulation, scourge and calamity were slowly being disintegrated within the millstone after the labels that contained them had crumbled.
These were powers that could have triggered all sorts of terrifying disasters, and yet Ye Qing had annihilated them thoroughly, leaving not a speck behind.
“Cough! Cough! Cough...” The instant the four origin powers were destroyed, Lady Suyi suffered a great blow and began coughing violently. Her aura began withering at a visible rate.
Not only that, she started aging at a visible rate. Her hair slowly turned white, her face became covered in wrinkles, and her flesh was shrinking rapidly.
It looked as if Lady Suyi had aged fifty or sixty years in just a few breaths.
“So this is what you really look like. Tch. How ugly you are...”
Ye Qing looked at the kneeling Lady Suyi scornfully. “You want to meet your god, right? Here they are.”
A bronze bell appeared in his palm, and Lady Suyi subconsciously looked. At that moment, she saw something she would never forget in her life.
She finally saw her god; her one true god; her omnipotent, omniscient, and invincible god once more.
However, her god did not look as inviolable, overwhelming, and all-encompassing as they used to be. No, they were currently being subdued by many layers of dark yellow light and bound by chains weaved from sun, moon and stars. Forget breaking free, they couldn’t even move.
They looked terrible, pitiful, amusing, and pathetic.
So shocked was Lady Suyi that she forgot her speech, forgot her pain, forgot everything. She could only stare at the silhouette blankly and numbly.
