Chapter 1604: Shocking The World
Translator's Note: My creator mission posts are up. Check it out if you want to. In this case I basically wrote a small fanfic from the perspective of Ye Qing's storage artifact, Nine Heavens. He never stopped carrying it, you know?

Seeing how confident and calm Ye Qing looked, Feng Qingyou guessed smilingly, “It sounds like you already have a plan.”
“But of course.” Ye Qing gave the Chief Libationist a smile. “You’re not going to leave me to die, right mister?”
“Tsk tsk... I can hear your abacus all the way from here!” The Chief Libationist shook his head, though there was no anger on his face. “Fine. Leave this to me.”
“Thank you, Chief Libationist.” Ye Qing grinned and paid the Chief Libationist a salute.
His idea was very simple: ask the Chief Libationist to deal with Haotian Hong, Xuanyuan Wang, and Yue Hanhai and convince them to stop coveting the Earthly Sovereign Bell.
Who was the Chief Libationist? He was the master of the Jixia Academy, the teacher of all scholars under the heavens, and one of the few candidates people believed to be the grand champion of the entire world. He had both the power and the background. If he took Ye Qing’s side, then even the three sect masters must treat him seriously.
Besides, he had already become a Sage, and he had the help of powerful Sages such as White Robe Demon Master and Feng Qingyou. He was no longer too afraid of the three sect masters anymore. If he pulled out all the stops, there should be a seventy to eighty percent chance that this irksome matter would finally come to a good end for him.

In fact, he was already planning to ask the Chief Libationist for help when he decided to help the scholar in the first place.
Now that he was acknowledged by the Earthly Sovereign himself, his chances of success had gotten a little higher.
As for whether the Chief Libationist would lend him his aid in the first place, he never thought for a second that the old scholar would turn him down. Considering the favor he did the old scholar this time, there was no way he wouldn’t repay it.
Of course, he would be in deep trouble if the Chief Libationist was an ungrateful bastard. But of course, he wasn’t. If the Chief Libationist was an ungrateful bastard, then there was no one in this world who could be considered good.
Therefore, the Chief Libationist would definitely agree to this.
“I must warn you though. I don’t mind negotiating on your behalf and convincing them to not attack you in person anymore. But as you had said it yourself, the human heart is difficult to fathom. Their mouths may agree, but their hearts may think otherwise. It is very possible they may resort to subtle, underhanded methods to obtain the Earthly Sovereign Bell instead. If you happen to be beyond my influence at the time, then there is nothing I can do for you then.”
The Chief Libationist said, “Don’t worry though. If they killed you somehow, I promise I will take revenge for you.”
Ye Qing: “...”
What a good guy you are.
Despite his thoughts, Ye Qing declared confidently, “You won’t get the chance to take revenge for me, mister. I don’t think there is anyone besides the three sect masters who has the qualifications to kill me.”
“Hahaha! I like your confidence.” The Chief Libationist gave him a clap on the shoulder and said, “Alright, it’s time we head back. I still need to deal with the mess Jing Run left behind. Sigh... this is going to be a headache.”
The Chief Libationist rubbed his head in annoyance. As with all fun things, the aftermath was the part no one wanted to deal with.
He couldn’t get out of this though. He was the Chief Libationist after all.
And so the trio blasted off into the horizon and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
......
It only took a single day for the incident that took place in the Chu capital to spread throughout the entire God Continent. The entire world was stunned by what they heard.
Obviously, Chu hid the fact that Emperor Jing Run had attempted to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of Nanjiang people and colluded with Fengdu for his selfish desires. They didn’t want the people to lose their faith in their country, nor give the other empires an excuse to invade their realm after all.
The official story went something like this: The ancient Ghost and God, King Taishan, was still alive, and he had appeared on the human world in hopes of rebuilding the old Fengdu. The mad deity had plotted this for ten thousand years, and he almost succeeded when he bewitched Emperor Jing Run[1] during Chu’s weakest moment. He had tried to draw the Yellow Spring to the human world, massacre millions of lives, and turn the human world into a Nether hell.
Fortunately, the Chief Libationist had stepped up and singlehandedly saved Chu from disaster. beaten back the Six Ghosts and Gods, repelled King Taishan, and seal off the Yellow Spring. He had singlehandedly saved Chu from collapse, foiled King Taishan’s conspiracy, and saved potentially billions from absolute disaster. Without exaggeration, he had saved the human world from turning into a living purgatory.
To put it simply, Chu had put all the blame on King Taishan and the current Fengdu, and pinned all the merits on the Chief Libationist. They had obfuscated just how big of a role Emperor Jing Run played in this near disaster and painted him as a victim, and diminished Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou’s importance in saving Chu as well.
The reason they did this was mainly to preserve the imperial court’s dignity and maintain the stability of Chu. Currently, Chu’s situation could be described as a straw house that was about to be blown away by a thunder storm. If the people found out that Emperor Jing Run was the one behind everything, then forget the rest of the world, the citizens of Chu themselves would loathe their own country and resent the imperial court. Some malicious schemers would absolutely seize the opportunity to stir up more trouble and plunge Chu into greater chaos.
Painting Emperor Jing Run and weakening his role in this incident made it so that the people’s focus and anger were directed at King Taishan and Fengdu. This saved everyone a lot of trouble.
As for why all the merits were pinned on the Chief Libationist, that was because Ye Qing and Feng Qingyou had requested it themselves. It was because they were afraid of the troubles that would surely follow if the people found out about their involvement.
Fame and glory might be a staircase to heaven, but it was also a set of golden chains that shackled them; a gilded cage that stole away their freedom.
Ye Qing believed that the drawbacks outweighed the benefits, so he chose to hide his deeds instead of publicizing it.
In conclusion, Chu’s machinations resulted in King Taishan and Fengdu becoming the mice everyone in the world wanted to kill, while the Chief Libationist became even more famous than he already was. For a time, everyone praised him as a hero.
Of course, there was no such thing as a secret that could be kept, not to mention that some people were intentionally trying to fan the flames. It wasn’t long before rumors regarding Emperor Jing Run’s collusion with Fengdu began to spread in the
jianghu
.
Before the malicious and treacherous could exploit this opportunity to their advantage though, the Chief Libationist stood up and declared that the rumors were just Fengdu’s attempt to sow dissension and direct the people’s hate away from them. He urged them not to fall for their petty tricks.
Right now, the Chief Libationist was the undisputed hero of humanity right now. Therefore, countless people unconditionally believed his words. As a result, the rumors were discredited for the “lies” they were, and the villains’ plans were ruined before they could even begin.
However, this was not the end of the bombshell. The next day, Chu once again made a worldwide announcement stating that the state could not miss its emperor for even a day, so after a “long” and “heated” discussion, it was uniformly agreed that Chu Xunxian, the Pacification King, would become the next emperor. His reign would be known as the Pacification reign—a symbol of his resolve to pacify the realm and return peace to the people—and the Chief Libationist would personally make offerings to heaven and earth, and coronate and bless the new emperor. All crimes were pardoned on that day, and all of the world were invited to celebrate the coronation at the imperial capital.
Naturally, this news once again shook the world.
No, they weren’t shocked because Chu Xunxian was becoming the emperor. It was because the Chief Libationist was personally getting involved in the ritual offering and the coronation. This had never happened before. For one, the Chief Libationist strictly stayed out of the imperial court’s business. And two, he normally focused on managing the Jixia Academy and educating the people only.
Now though, the Chief Libationist was breaking his own rule. It was only natural that the people were astonished.
At the same time, they wondered if this meant that the Chief Libationist was going to officially join the imperial court and involve himself in politics; if it meant that the Chief Libationist was going to become a true, complete member of Chu.
For a time, there wasn’t a single person in the world who wasn’t talking about this. It was no less discussed than the reappearance of King Taishan.
It was understandable. The Chief Libationist was at the height of his fame right now. His every word and move was being watched by everyone. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that his behavior could influence the world to a certain extent. Of course the people would pay close attention to him.
