Chapter 1633: King Taishan’s Offer

On the other side, the river of incredible energies combined with the dark, tainted energies of the Yellow Spring to become something even greater and deadlier than either. Then, it all surged toward King Taishan at once.

However, the energies were stopped dead in its tracks by the domain created by the Clear Sky Mirror, Xuanyuan Sword, and Earthly Sovereign Bell.

Ooong... ooong... ooong...

The next moment, the tremendous energies mixed with the Yellow Spring crashed against the domain repeatedly like a tsunami. Countless powerful Strangers were mixed in the waves as well. It looked like they would crack this domain open like an egg.

However, the domain created by the three sacred artifacts of the Human Way was extraordinarily stable. It remained intact no matter how many times the waves crashed against it.

Inside the domain, the Chief Libationist was still attacking King Taishan.

Not only that, the others were contributing their strength as well.

The Nether origin power King Taishan was attempting to absorb was completely isolated by the domain. He was unable to overcome the Chief Libationist and his allies via his own power either.

As a result, King Taishan could not regain his footing. He remained in a kneeling position before the group this whole time.

“This one’s for oppressing the humans and massacring the innocents during the ancient times...”

“This one’s for drawing the Yellow Spring to the human world in an attempt to sow chaos...”

“This one’s for not learning your lessons and conspiring against humanity still...”

Slap! Slap! Slap!

King Taishan’s aura grew weaker and weaker with every slap. Eventually, his head touched the ground as if he was kowtowing in repentance and realization.

Of course, King Taishan hadn’t repented one bit. It was the Chief Libationist who forced him into this humiliating position.

“Stop! Stop!” Right here and now, King Taishan was overflowing with anger and humiliation. He was King Taishan, a natural deity who was gifted with unparalleled powers from the moment he was born and a dominator during the ancient times. Back in the day, was there any human who didn’t respect him or fear him?

But today, he was forced to prostrate himself on the ground like a dog. Words could not describe how humiliated he felt.

Worse, it was the humans, humble creatures who only deserved to become food on his table, who forced him into this position. How could he not be angry?

More than humiliation and anger, he felt fear.

It was because he sensed that his death was truly near.

He was a deity of Nether and death, and death was breathing down his neck. How ironic was it? How laughable was it? It was reality though. Undeniable reality.

That was why he was afraid. Terrified.

And so King Taishan finally opened his mouth... to beg for his life.

“You can’t kill me! I am King Taishan! You can’t kill me!”

“The reason we came today is to kill King Taishan!” The Chief Libationist did not pause for even a second. He landed another strike on King Taishan’s body and cracked it like a spider web.

“Stop! You need me. Humanity needs me. I am a god of the Nether. If you kill me, the laws of the Nether will fall into disarray, and Fengdu will collapse.”

King Taishan said in a hurry, “If Fengdu collapses, then there is no one who could sort out the corrupted yin qi in the Nether. It will surely leak into the human world. There would be no one left to restrain the countless evil ghosts and Strangers living in Fengdu as well. They will surely cause harm to humanity one way or another.”

“If I die, then the human world will never know peace.”

The Chief Libationist’s scroll halted for the first time. “Are you threatening me?”

King Taishan lifted his head and said, “No, I am simply stating facts.”

However, the Chief Libationist placed his scroll on top of King Taishan’s head before he could lift it in full.

King Taishan immediately felt as if the sky itself was pressing down on his head. Unable to bear its weight, his head was immediately forced down once more.

“I prefer it more when you are kneeling and kowtowing.”

The Chief Libationist asked slowly, “Now, speak. How do you suggest we fix this?”

King Taishan felt incredibly humiliated, but he did not reveal even a speck of it on his face. “It’s simple. Let me live, and everything will be fine.”

The Chief Libationist sneered. “Hah! You want us to let you live and continue conspiring against humanity?”

“I wouldn’t,” King Taishan argued. “I promise that I will never do anything to harm humanity from now on, much less become their enemy.”

“As you know, humanity has a need for Fengdu. It is thanks to Fengdu that there is order to life and death, and balance between yin and yang. Without this, humanity could not have prospered for long. Of course, Fengdu needs humans for the same reason. The reason Fengdu can exist for so long is because humans, creatures who are born in yang, return to yin when they die. Without them, there is no hope for Fengdu to reconstruct the cycle of rebirth and recreate its former glory.”

Seeing that the Chief Libationist was silent, King Taishan continued, “Besides that, the great tribulation is soon upon us. During this period, the Heavenly Way is like a millstone that indiscriminately grounds all living beings into flour. Whether you like it or not, you must admit that humanity will soon fall into great unrest and disorder.”

“However, if humans and Fengdu work together, if you have my help, the human race will definitely survive this tribulation.”

“United we stand, divided we fall. You are a smart man with a heart big enough to fit all who stand under the light. I’m sure you understand what I’m saying.”

“Heh. I cannot deny that your words make a lot of sense.” The Chief Libationist’s tone was meaningful. “It makes so much sense that I cannot even mount a rebuttal.”

“But why should I believe you?”

Seeing that the Chief Libationist believed his words, King Taishan did not hesitate to strike the iron while it was hot. “I can swear an oath of the Heavenly Way. May I perish forever and never be reborn if I break this oath.”

“Haha...” The Chief Libationist let out a sardonic chuckle.

King Taishan asked, “You don’t believe me?”

The Chief Libationist countered, “Do you think I should believe you?” King Taishan frowned. “What do you want me to do then?”

The Chief Libationist replied indifferently, “You tell me.”

King Taishan thought for a moment before answering, “I can tell you one thing as a show of sincerity.”

The group exchanged glances with each other before asking curiously, “Speak.”

“Since the Earthly Sovereign Bell is here, the Earthly Sovereign’s successor must be here as well, right?”

King Taishan asked, “Did he tell you about the Four Evils? Yes, I think you already know.”

“In the past, the Earthly Sovereign failed to kill the Four Evils because of me. He had no choice but to suppress them. It won't be much longer before they break out of their seals either.”

“According to my estimations, it will happen in less than a decade.”

“A decade?” Everyone was shocked to hear this.

Ye Qing’s voice rang. “The seals should be lasting another twenty or so years.”

“That is true, but I did a little something a while ago that reduced the lifespan of the seals considerably.”

“You seem very proud of yourself,” Ye Qing said in an icy voice brimming with murderous rage.

King Taishan replied fearlessly, “Of course I am. Not anyone can plot against the Earthly Sovereign or concoct a ten-thousand-year-long conspiracy.”

Ye Qing asked in an emotionless voice, “Are you bragging to us?”

“Not at all.” King Taishan shook his head. “I am simply informing you all that the Four Evils will soon break out of their seals, and that you must be prepared for that inevitability.”

The Old Heavenly Master harrumphed, and thunder boomed murderously. “Haha! I can’t believe it. You

are

bragging to us about your misdeeds and telling us to clean up your mess. You must really want to die!”

“You misunderstand me. I am not finished yet.” King Taishan said smilingly, “The reason I’m telling you this is simple. I can resolve this crisis.”
