King Taishan suddenly changed his tune. “But it’s different now. After being sealed for over ten thousand years, the Four Evils have never been weaker. Now, I am confident that I can control them.”

“Of course, a mere imprint is not enough to handle them even in their weakened state. So, I prepared four evil suppressing spiritual treasures and hid them in the four poles, Dong Ji, Xi Huang, Nan Xu, and Bei Yuan[1].”

“All things in the world have their yin and yang, positive and negative counterparts. Even the strongest existences have their weaknesses and bane. The Four Evils are no exception.” King Taishan said, “The four evil suppressing spiritual treasures I prepared exist specifically to suppress the Four Evils.”

“Of course, it is possible that the Four Evils retain enough power that even the four evil suppressing spiritual treasures are unable to suppress them. So, to ensure that everything will go smoothly, I set up a great array and hid the treasures in the four poles so that they can continuously absorb the spiritual energies around them.”

King Taishan frowned. “What do you want then?”

The Chief Libationist smiled. “It’s very simple. Tell us the exact location of the four evil suppressing spiritual treasures, and we will send someone to check if they are genuine or not. If they are, then you won’t have to worry about anything.”

“Haha...” King Taishan let out an enigmatic chuckle.

The Chief Libationist was also chuckling. “Which one is it? Reluctance, or fear of being exposed for the fraud you are?”

“Neither. I simply do not have the ability to fulfill your demand.”

King Taishan explained, “After all, even I do not know exactly where the four evil suppressing spiritual treasures are hidden right now.”

The Old Heavenly Master sneered, “You’re telling us that you don’t know where the stuff you hid yourself is hidden? How are you not laughing at your own words?”

“I am simply stating facts.” King Taishan said calmly, “For one, I was grievously injured. As you know, I have been slumbering for over ten thousand years. Many of my memories are missing because of this. Two, times change, and places change even more. Dong Ji, Xi Huang, Nan Xu, and Bei Yuan could have changed dramatically during this time. It is possible that someone has broken through my seals and stolen the spiritual treasures as well. There are simply too many unknowns.”

“All things considered, I would be foolish to think that the four spiritual treasures remain exactly where I have left them.”

The Chief Libationist asked in an indifferent tone, “How do you think we should remedy this?”

King Taishan replied calmly, “I have left an imprint in every spiritual treasure. I will sense them if they are within a certain range.”

“I see!” The Chief Libationist rubbed his chin with furrowed brows. He seemed to be considering whether King Taishan’s offer was worth taking or not.

“Kill him, mister!” It was at this moment Ye Qing’s voice rang in the Chief Libationist’s mind.

“Why?” The Chief Libationist was surprised to hear this. When King Taishan claimed that Fengdu would collapse if he died, he wasn’t too worried. After all, they still had the Great Emperor of Fengdu. Although the Great Emperor of Fengdu was no match for King Taishan, he was by no means a weakling. On top of that, he possessed much of Fengdu’s authority. It was enough to avoid the collapse of Fengdu’s law and order after King Taishan’s demise.

What really tempted him was the promise of the four spiritual treasures. If what King Taishan said was true, and the four spiritual treasures were the bane of the Four Evils, then obtaining them would be essential for their mission.

Ye Qing was the one chosen to suppress the Four Evils. Naturally, he out of all of them was carrying the heaviest burden. Logically speaking, he of all people should desire the four spiritual treasures the most, and yet he was advocating for killing King Taishan. That was why the Chief Libationist was puzzled.

“No good will come out of conspiring with a tiger. King Taishan is simply buying time. There is no chance he is ever cooperating with us sincerely.”

Ye Qing explained, “Compared to the Four Evils, King Taishan poses a greater threat right now. In the future, he is sure to cause trouble as well. If we don’t eliminate him now, I am certain we will regret it in the future.”

“As for his evil suppressing spiritual treasures, have you forgotten? The Earthly Sovereign Bell still has a wisp of his divine intent. Assuming that they are real, we can simply use it to locate them.”

“As you wish.”

The Chief Libationist immediately arrived at a decision. To be honest, he wanted to kill King Taishan as well.

After all, this natural deity was far too dangerous. The threat he posed against humanity was greater as well.

King Taishan exclaimed in terror, “Have you gone mad, Chief Libationist? If you kill me, humanity will plunge into endless calamities! Cease this madness now!”

He did not understand what was happening. The negotiation was going well. He could tell that the Chief Libationist was tempted. So what on earth happened that he changed his mind so suddenly and thoroughly? He just could not figure it out.

“Not killing you would result in endless calamity for humanity. That is why you must die today!”

Having made up his mind, the Chief Libationist stopped wasting his breath on King Taishan. “Dao brothers and sisters, please assist me in slaying this cur!”
